What are disbursements — and why are they separate?

Disbursements are costs we pay on your behalf to third parties — Namport, NamRA, shipping lines, government ministries — and pass through to you at cost with no markup.

They are separate from our service fee because they are outside our control and can change without notice. Port tariffs, corridor levies, and NamRA assessment fees are set by government and port authorities, not by WalvisLink.

Every quote we issue shows your service fee and estimated disbursements as separate line items. You will never receive a WalvisLink invoice where you cannot see exactly what you're paying for.

Common questions about our pricing

Do you charge for amendments and NamRA queries?

Amendments caused by changes in cargo details after submission are charged at N$800 per amendment. If NamRA raises a query due to an error in your original documentation, we respond at no extra charge. If the query requires a SAD 500 amendment, the amendment fee applies.

Who pays demurrage if cargo is held at the port?

Demurrage and port storage charges arising from incomplete, incorrect or late client documentation are the client's responsibility. We advise immediately when we become aware of a hold, and we work to resolve it as fast as possible — but we cannot absorb costs caused by document deficiencies outside our control.

What is a transit bond and who pays for it?

A transit bond is a guarantee lodged with NamRA that covers the full duty value of transit cargo while it moves through Namibia. The bond value is determined by NamRA based on your cargo's customs value — it is a disbursement we pay on your behalf and pass through at cost. We charge $150 per container for bond administration. The bond is discharged when cargo exits Namibia at the destination border post.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes. Clients clearing 10 or more shipments per month qualify for our volume retainer structure with agreed monthly rate schedules. Freight forwarders and GLA network members are eligible for agency agreement pricing. Contact us to discuss.
